Raezyr interlaced his fingers behind his head as rested on the pillow, staring at the dimly lit ceiling above. Dianna's bright red hair played out on the bed next to him as she propped her head up on one hand, the synth-silk sheets covering both of them from the waist down. "Was that the truth?" she asked her lover.
He'd been waiting for that question, and although he'd had time to think about what his answer would be, she had kept him distracted for most of the time. He decided to stall for a little more time. "Was 'what' the truth?"
"Don't play that, you know I'm talking about Mannix story," she said, rolling over and placing her hands on his chest, and resting her head on her hands, looking up at his face.
"Well, it was mostly the truth," he replied, trying not to look into her eyes, but failing.
"I knew it! What really happened?"
Raezyr wished it was his brother answering these questions. Trychon was a much better talker as Raezyr had grown up with little companionship outside his first Master. He sighed quietly and did his best to answer. "I said it was mostly the truth, and it was. Mannix left a part out, but that's for Mannix to tell when he's ready. It's not something you blurt out to complete strangers."
Dianna sat up on her knees and then punched Raezyr in the shoulder. "Damn you, Raez. You can't say something like that, and then not tell me what it is!" she said in mock indignation.
Raez just grinned as he sat up. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he pulled her into his lap. She half-heartedly struggled against his powerful grip. "No use struggling, my love. Resistance is futile," he said, still grinning despite the blows she was raining down on his arms and shoulders.
He reached up and, putting a hand on the back of her head, pulled her lips to his. Her struggles melted into willingness as Raezyr laid her down on her back, pulling the sheet up over their heads.
