When Raezyr woke again, he was feeling much better. The pain was still coursing through his body, but it was much more tolerable. He glanced around the hut. It was well built and clean, albeit sparsely furnished. He noticed the two slender people with whom he had spoken before standing off to one side speaking quietly. He tried to push himself up to a sitting position, but pain shot through him and he grunted quietly, then gave up his efforts.
His noises caused the two to look over in his direction, and the older man and younger woman approached him, smiling. "I see our patient is awake again, Sister Saffron," the older man said. "How are you feeling, friend?" he asked, turning his attention to Raezyr.
"Like I was in a shuttle crash," Raezyr replied. He looked around the room again, trying to find the kolto tank and other medical supplies he was used to seeing at a medical facility. "I don't even remember being in the tank. How bad was I?"
"The tank?" The older man asked, clearly confused. "I'm sorry, but our medical practices here are a bit different that those you may be used to where ever it is you come from, but I can assure you that we are quite skilled and you will recover fully, Force willing."
Raezyr thought for a moment, and decided it was best to play this as somewhat informed. "The Force? Are you Jedi?" he asked.
"Jedi? Oh, dear me, no! The Taxl is a peaceful religion. The Jedi have been here before, to recruit, but they are much to violent in their ways for us. They haven't been here to bother us for many, many years," the man said, smiling broadly. "My name is Brother Odilo. I'm the chief Healer here. This is Sister Saffron, my assistant."
"My name's Raezyr," he said, extending his hand which each monk shook in turn. He gestured toward the other patient. "That is my older brother, Trychon."
Raezyr debated a few minutes, trying to decide what to say next, but the monk spoke first. "If you're feeling up to it, the head of our order, Father Monahan, is rather anxious to speak with you." Raezyr nodded his consent, and Odilo spoke with Saffron quietly for a moment before she left.
Raezyr laid back and rested for a moment. He wished he could confer with Trychon, or even Lord Vikon. They had planned to just wing it after they landed, but the power converter in the axial thruster hadn't been able to withstand the extreme stress and had gone out, and they ended up really crashing, rather than a controlled crash as planned. They were lucky to be alive right now.
And now he was going to have to do this on his own. The monk had assured him that Trychon would wake up, but these first days, and explanations were the most critical.
