371. THX 1138 - Trychon

Trychon went down the path that Raezyr and Aitchkay had found. He was already irritable from trying to figure out some rough translations for the symbols, although his studies and the larger sample were helping. He walked into the room, and was already talking at Raezyr, partially using the force so he could be sure that he was heard.

"What's the big deal? You're the mech..." Then he stopped as he turned the corner and saw what Raezyr was pointing at. He found himself looking at three columns. They one on the left seemed to be controlling the power for the ruins, but it seemed worn and was sparking occasionally. There were four levels to the power circuits on each pillar, with all four of the ones on the left pillar lit, and the other two in nearly pristine condition, albeit dusty as everything else. The one in the middle seemed to do little other than transfer power, but the one on the right was hooked up as a backup to the main circuit. "What in the name of Naga Sadow is this?" He asked Raezyr.

"It's all nonsensical, the way they have this set up. I have no idea what they were doing other than to just make things difficult." Raezyr pointed to a small plate on the center pillar. "This one seems to explain it. Sorta. The top level of circuits can be transferred freely... The second level can be transferred to any pillar that doesn't have the top circuit already powered... The third level can be transferred to a ring that has neither of the ones above it powered... and the bottom circuit can only be transferred to a pillar that has no power."

Trychon just stared at it. "This is stupid."

Raezyr agreed. "There's just no point. What makes it worse is that it looks like it's set up so the feedback you're trying to avoid will either fry the circuits altogether, or explode outright... if we screw up. Twice."

"Twice?"

"Yeah."

"Well, that is just odd."

"Yeah."

The two of them sat down and worked out a method for moving around the power between circuits in such a way that the top two circuits were maneuvered around so that they were kept from feedback on the bottom circuits as they were maneuvered to the middle and eventually the right pillar. When they were positive that they had a solution to their problem, they got to work actually transferring the power. They triple checked their plan as they went, making sure that they wouldn't make a mistake, as they only had two chances at this.

Their plan worked out fine in the end, and as they got all of the circuits on the right pillar powered up, a switch on the wall lit up. Raezyr looked to Trychon, who said nothing, so he turned on the switch. The backup circuits kicked on, and power returned to all the lights in that room and presumably beyond.

"That was truly ridiculous. Felt like a puzzle out of some holo game." Raezyr said, as they started to leave the room. Before they could though, they heard a small compartment near the right pillar click open. Trychon walked over and reached inside, pulling out a small crystal and a pistol.

"So odd." He said, as he tossed the crystal to Raezyr and the pistol to Aitchkay.
