Eiron spun his lightsaber before him, countering strikes from Barbagar and Centar on every side. He was better than Barbagar, slightly better, but he had no idea how he measured up to Centar. With the third Jedi in the mix as well, Eiron had no chance of surviving longer than maybe thirty seconds.
So he didn't. He bolted.
After drawing on the Force and pushing both Jedi Masters back a few steps, Eiron jumped straight up, out, through the ceiling. Now, with the high ground, he could hold them off.
But the Jedi were not following. The roof began to shake; they were bringing it down from under him.
"Start the ship!" Eiron roared into his comm as he sprinted up the ramp. Lysandra already had the engines warmed up: it took three seconds for the Phobia to lift off. Sloan sat in the copilot seat, almost white with fear.
"This is bad," he said, over and over again. "We are doomed!"
Eiron concussed him with the Force and then eyed the starships. His apprentices had had the advantage; the warships had not yet been in position. Eiron did not have that advantage. "Can you hack the Hammerhead's computers and sabotage their targeting systems?"
Lysanda shook her digital head. "I am an AI, not a supercomputer."
Eiron grumbled and took control of the ship on his own. "All right. We're taking her close to the starboard one!"
"Close?!" Something like panic bled into Lys's voice as well.
"They won't fire on us if they're going to hit their ally, and we'll fly around the guns on the other ship! Throttle up and shift laser recharge power to shields and engines!!"
Eiron pushed Phobia to its limits and nearly grazed the side of the Hammerhead as he made his frantic run for hyperspace. He had to be careful. As close as he was, it would be easy for him to accidentally fly over a turbolaser battery and get incinerated.
When Eiron reached the end of the cruiser, the second ship began firing on him again.
"Shields down to 18%!"
Eiron set his mouth in a line. "Hyperspace!"
"Where?"
"Anywhere!"
As if in response, Lys took the ship into lightspeed.
