358. THX 1138 - Trychon

They sprinted the distance towards the small opening as much as they could. They were getting close, and seemed as though they would make it just in time even though the beast gained on them. Raezyr felt the beast pause for a second as Trychon squeezed through the small rocky crevasse. He risked a quick look back to see what the creature was doing. "Son of a Kath Hound!" he yelled as he dropped to his back, narrowly avoiding the boulder that soared past and burst into flying rocks as it hit the entrance.

Raezyr scrambled to his feet and followed Trychon into the cavern, without another glance back.

They made their way through the caverns at an agitated pace. They felt hurried to increase their distance from the surface, even though they knew that the beast could not follow them in here. When the roars of the beast were no longer shaking their skin, Trychon limped to a halt.

He sat down very carefully favoring his left leg. He breathed out a mixed sigh of relief and pain. He laid his head back gently against the cavern wall. He took in another deep breath and spent the next minute coughing. Raezyr watched silently as he did, until finally Trychon stopped and wiped a mixture of blood and sweat from his mouth. "I love this place." he said, opening his eyes and looking at Raezyr.

Raezyr seemed only slightly better off. The forearm guard of his armor missing from his right arm, which was hanging as though it had been briefly dislocated. Raezyr was making no mention of it, or of the blood soaked cloth that was all that was left covering that portion of his arm.

Raezyr ignited his blade and used the light to glance around their immediate surroundings. "I think we should stop for a moment." He said. That elicited a small chuckle from Trychon, so Raezyr walked over and sat down next to him.

"You know..." Trychon spoke finally "I think I know why master sent us here rather than coming on his own."

The fog did not follow them into the cavern, and they lost the benefit of its energy and increased senses. Trychon felt a bit of a relief from the exercise in concentration, but also felt the lack of sleep catching back up to him.

He closed his eyes, and let the pain in his leg and chest wash over him before losing consciousness. Raezyr was not far behind.
