372. THX 1138 - Raezyr

Raezyr looked at the crystal for a moment, wondering what it might be good for, before sticking it into a pouch on his utility belt. He followed the other two out of the generator room and into the maintenance tunnel which was now fairly well lit. On the walk back, they discussed their plans, and decided that they would spend some time here studying and trying to figure out a way to get back in safely without having to deal with all the traps.

When they reached the access door to the library, it was closed, but opened again when they punched the control switch. They stepped into the library. It was lit, but dimly, although bright lights illuminated the sculptures and display cases around the room.

Stepping up to the nearest terminal, Trychon began accessing the mainframe. He bypassed the security system with little trouble as it was old and used an outdated method of encryption. Have to upgrade that before we leave he thought to himself.

It didn't take long to find the programs that controlled the traps. It looked as if the initial portal took DNA scans of anyone who placed their hands on it, and deactivated the traps for those with the correct sequences. He quickly erased those that had been stored in the memory and replaced them with his and Raezyr's.

While looking that over, he found that everything held by the statues and display cases were also trapped. It appeared that anyone unrecognized who attempted to remove items from the library would electrocuted, but since he had placed their DNA codes on the master override list, they wouldn't have to worry about that when it came time to leave.

That finished, Trychon then began to look over the schematics and layout plans. He found that the original facility was just a library. Later upgrades had turned it into a small base. It had what appeared to be some living quarters, training areas, and labratories. It even included a small hangar for ships, although that appeared to be the most recent addition, and was only connected by the maintenance tube, which appeared to stretch for nearly three kilometers to a nearby mountainside. According to the schematics, the entrance was disguised and located halfway up a cliff face.

He deleted all the currently authorized ships and then authorized the Razor and the Stalker. He also accessed and replaced all the command override codes which would allow an unauthorized ship to land, as long as someone aboard knew the codes.

While Trychon had been doing that, Raezyr had wandered around the library looking at the various items that were on display. There were ancient weapons of all kinds: Energy whips, double bladed lightsabers, shotos, tonfas, and even ancient swords of all types. He gazed at all the crystals and tomes that were enclosed in the showcases, wondering what they were for. Surrounding many of the weapons and treasures located in the library, Raezyr could detect the Dark Side swirling strongly around them, almost as if the objects themselves were Force sensitive beings. Some were unmarked, and others were marked with placards written in the ancient Sith. He decided that one day he would learn to speak and read this ancient language, but at the moment, there were so many more pertinent things to learn.

Moving on, he found himself at the back of the library standing in front of a set of double stone doors, with intricately carved designs and ancient Sith runes. He could feel the power of the Dark Side emanating from within. He searched around and found the controls cleverly concealed on the door frame and activated them.

The doors slid back into the walls, grinding as they moved, and a wave of Dark power washed over and through Raezyr. He closed his eyes and dropped to his knees basking in the re-energizing forces, soaking it in like the warmth from the rays of the sun, shining through a window on a wintery day. When he finally opened his eyes again, he looked into the small antechamber. It was dark except for overhead spotlights which shown down, piercing the darkness and illuminating two rows of pedestals on each side. On top of each was a small, fist-sized pyramid, each one was a bit different, and each was ornately decorated with symbols made of precious metals. And each one radiated the power of the Dark Side so strongly that Raezyr felt he could almost see it with the naked eye.

He called out through the Force to his Sith brother. Trych, you have to get over here.

I'm just finishing up, what is it?

Holocrons...
