"Hopefully, but I'm worried about that flash. I hope it was just supposed to blind us and not something bigger," Raezyr said over his shoulder. They continued on, even slower and more wary now. Raezyr led the way, crouching slightly blades still activated, long blade in his right hand, short blade facing downward in his left. Trychon brought up the rear, moving backwards, his back to Raezyr, both hands on his blade. The red and blue glowing light given off by the blades mixed around Trychon and Raezyr, and surrounded them in an eerie purplish aura in the near darkness.
They finally came out to a wide landing at the top of the stairs. The control room was only a short distance ahead of them. They both deactivated their blades and Trychon walked forward. This is too easy, Raezyr thought. He reached out through the Force and checked the area... almost too late.
"LOOK OUT!" Trychon heard in his mind. A man stepped out from behind the control room and fired a blaster rifle from his hip.
Raezyr dove through the air slamming into Trychon, knocking him out of the way. They both scrambled to their feet, reactivating their blades amidst a hail of blaster fire as two more men stepped around the corner, firing.
Raezyr deftly moved his short blade, creating a sheild of sorts, deflecting bolts, while closing the distance and attempting to re-direct bolts with the long blade. Trychon moved up next to him blocking everything he could, feeling the occaisional singe as a missed bolt passed too near.
Raezyr finally got a good re-direct, hitting one squarely in throat before closing the gap. The man in front of him attempted to swing the blaster rifle at his head, but Raezyr cut it in half with the short blade while he removed the mans legs with the other, then spun to face the final assailant. Only there wasn't one.
Trychon had moved in blocking bolts as best he could letting the Force flow through him. The gunman finally dropped his rifle and attempted to pull a vibro-sword, but Trychon closed the gap and kicked him in the chest, sending him backwards to tumble over the railing. The attacker landed on his neck with a sickening crack.
"Let's get into the control room, quickly." Raezyr said. His voice sounded a bit strained and he favored his right side as he followed Trychon through the door.
